ASHLAND — BCC bridge winners named

BELLEFONTE - Bellefonte Country Club bridge winners for Feb. 6 are: first (tie) — Jo Weller and Mary Jo Burton; second (tie) — Betty Cooper and Kay Memmer; third — Juanita Ditty; fourth — Maxine Brammer.

Fancy Nancy party offered

CANNONSBURG - Ages 4 through 12 are invited to dress in their fanciest outfits and come to a Fancy Nancy Party at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kyova branch of the Boyd County Public Library.

Children will transform themselves with fancy, glitzy craft items, similar to  Fancy Nancy from the books by Jane O’Connor. Grown-ups are invited to attend, but they should dress fancy, too.

Snacks will be served.

Chalkboard craft class planned

CATLETTSBURG - A class at the Boyd County Public Library will demonstrate how to make a chalkboard out of an old photo frame.

The adult class will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Catlettsburg branch at 2704 Louisa St.

Registration is not required. Supplies will be provided for the first 10 to show up; others are welcome to stay and watch the demonstration. Library staff also will show some lettering techniques for creating beautiful displays on the chalkboard.

'Call of the Wild' project set

WURTLAND - A free charcoal art workshop will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Greenup County Extension Agency.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo of a favorite dog or choose a sled dog from Jack London’s book “Call of the Wild” the office can provide to create a charcoal portrait.

The three top pieces will become part of the traveling art exhibit in connection with the “Big Read” project from the National Endowment for the Arts as partnered with the Paramount Arts Center.

The workshop is open to all ages and all artistic abilities.
