Filmmakers seek actors, actresses
GEORGETOWN - Remix Films will film parts of its new movie, “The Death of Floyd Collins,” March 1 and 2 in Paintsville, and actors, actresses and extras are being sought.

“The Death of Floyd Collins” is the documentary film that revisits the story of the Kentucky man who became trapped in a cave in 1925. His two-week ordeal set off a worldwide media circus, earning him a unique place in Kentucky history.
The movie is directed by Michael Crisp, whose film “The Very Worst Thing” told the story of the 1958 Floyd County school bus disaster. It is produced by Scott Hall (“When Happy Met Froggie,” “Legendary: When Baseball Came to the Bluegrass”).
Hospice to offer grief counseling
ASHLAND - Community Hospice will offer several community-based grief counseling sessions in February.
Anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one is encouraged to attend.
‰Embracing Our Grief will be at 6 p.m. Thursdays beginning this week and continuing through March 30 at Community Hospice Care Center at 2330 Pollard Road.
‰Embracing Our Grief will be at 3 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 28 through April 4 at the Olive Hill branch of the Carter County Public Library.
‰An ongoing men’s support group meets at 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Community Hospice at 1480 Carter Ave.
‰A parents’ support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Community Hospice Care Center at 2330 Pollard Road.

Singing valentines will be offered
ASHLAND - Members of the Singing Kernels Barbershop Chorus will form quartets to deliver singing valentines Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Recipients also receive a rose and a box of chocolates. Quartets will deliver to a residence, workplace or restaurant. Cost is $40.
The chorus is the Ashland chapter of the nonprofit Barbershop Harmony Society, with members from throughout the Tri-State. To order a singing valentine or for more information, call (606) 922-7034.
Craft program to be offered twice
CATLETTSBURG - Boyd County Public Library staff will offer an adult snow-globe-making workshop twice this month.
The first program will be at 2 p.m. Saturday and the second will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Both will be at the Catlettsburg branch, 2704 Louisa St.
The library will provide supplies and instruction. No registration is required, but seating is limited.

Family movie slated Sunday
CANNONSBURG - The Boyd County Public Library will show “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kyova branch in the Kyova Mall, across from Elder-Beerman. Free refreshments will be provided.
