Highlands to offer open mic bluegrass, country

ASHLAND — A new venue has opened for musicians with an interest in more traditional styles of music.

The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center will start a monthly open mic night for performers of bluegrass and classic country.

The first event will be from 7 to 9 p.m. April 17 at the Highlands. Admission is $3. There is no additional fee for performers. Refreshments will be available.

Museum director Carol Allen said they’ll try open mic night on a monthly basis and, if it catches on, will try to increase the frequency.

She said there will be an emcee, but she said she can’t confirm who it will be yet.

For more information, call the museum at (606) 329-8888.
