Homelessness simulation set

ASHLAND - The Shelter of Hope will lead One Night Without a Home from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Nov. 22 on the vacant lot behind First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), at 1930 Winchester Ave.

Although one night cannot simulate actual homelessness, the awareness-raising event will focus on some of the causes of homelessness. The event will include guest speakers, special music, a candlelight vigil followed by prayer and a  cardboard question-and-answer session.

The event is open to individuals and groups (especially youth groups) who would like to know more about reaching out to the homeless. It’s planned in conjunction with National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, Nov. 17 through 23.

Participants should dress warmly and bring their own seating. Toiletries and food will help stock the shelter’s pantry.
