‘Bloom’ forum

set for April 15

The Huntington in Bloom movement will launch on April 15 with a community forum at 7 p.m. at the Big Sandy Superstore Conference Center.

Huntington in Bloom is a community effort to improve the overall quality of life in the area by beautifying public areas with floral and tree plantings, landscaping and by removing litter and graffiti. The program also focuses attention on historic preservation and addressing environmental issues.

Attendees at the free forum will learn about Huntington in Bloom and the six areas of focus: floral design, landscaped areas, urban forestry, environmental effort, historical preservation, and overall impression. They will also have the opportunity to register to volunteer for the various initiatives.

This is the first year Huntington is participating in the America in Bloom competition. America in Bloom judges will be in the Huntington area in mid-July to evaluate the community’s work. America in Bloom promotes nationwide beautification through education and community involvement by encouraging the use of flowers, plants, trees, and other environmental and lifestyle enhancements.

For more information, visit the Huntington in Bloom website, huntingtoninbloom.org, or Facebook page.
