The Grayson Gallery & Art Center will present the second annual “Peace & Love” art show with an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday during the monthly Final Friday art walk.
The free event will feature works by more than 20 artists in media ranging from fiber art to windchimes, with most pieces for sale. The GGAC board will select a Gallery Choice Award and present $100 to the artist whose work best meets the theme.
Dates have been set for the “Women in the Arts” event at the gallery in late March, featuring Kentucky native Allison Anders, an acclaimed filmmaker, writer and director living in the Los Angeles area. Details with scheduled events, dates and times will be announced next week.
Anders will present a screenwriting workshop at the gallery, as well as making other local appearances. Funding for the program has been made possible by an Artist Enrichment Grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women, which resulted from a grant-writing workshop which the KFW organization offered in 2012.
In addition, all arts presented in March will feature women for the monthly F!nal Fr!days Art Walk on March 28 with visual artists, culinary arts/catering and live music, all in celebration of Women’s History Month.
Plans for April include an Earth Day-themed show featuring regional artists and works that depict and honor the planet. Paintings, photographs, fiber art, sculpture, assemblage, art from found materials, upcycled and repurposed pieces will be showcased.
