Tax assistance available
Trained representatives of the American Association of Retired Persons’ Tax-Aide program offer tax help to last-minute filers from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through April 15 at the Kyova branch of the Boyd County Public Library.
Assistance is for those in the middle- or low-income categories with special attention to those 60 and older.
Those needing help should bring with them all the necessary 2013 tax forms, including W-2s; copies of 2012 federal and Kentucky income tax returns; unemployment compensation statements, SSA-1099 (for Social Security benefits); all 1099 forms showing dividends and interest; and any other pertinent tax documents, including documentation if itemizing deductions.
Federal forms and instructions are free at all BCPL branches. The Kentucky Revenue Cabinet does not provide bulk forms and instructions to libraries, but BCPL staff will print one copy of every state form patrons need. Additional copies are 10 cents per page.
Instructions also can be printed at 10 cents per page.
Also to get Kentucky forms, visit revenue.ky.gov/forms or call (502) 564-3658.
Links to the federal and state revenue sites can be found on the library’s Web site at thebookplace.org.
