GRAYSON — There are extra arts events in Grayson this month that encompass music, poetry and visual arts.

A poetry reading from 7 to 9 p.m. today by the Carter County Poetry Society will be at the Grayson Gallery & Art Center. The event is in conjunction with Grayson’s Memory‚ÄąDays celebration. Refreshments will be served.

A reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday will celebrate the third annual “Regional Favorites” exhibit at the gallery.

A select group of artists, based on past GGAC participation and awards, public response and quality of work, has been invited to exhibit multiple works in all media. More than 40 artists will exhibit up to 75 original pieces.

Live music will be provided from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday by Larry Whitt, Brent Jack and Tom Berry as they return to the gallery for the celebration. Whitt and Jack were the first musicians to perform in 2011 at the gallery and Berry has performed with several bands booked for the gallery. Refreshments will be by Catering by Laura.

The gallery will be open again on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. After the gallery closes, Grayson Gallery and Art Center officers and board of directors members will be among those honored as Grand Marshals in the Memory Days parade. They will ride on a float provided by the Commercial Bank of Grayson.

The regular F!nal Fr!day exhibit and reception will be from 6 to 9 p.m. May 31, giving visitors another chance to see “Regional Favorites.” Music will be provided by the band Rock Therapy, who, weather permitting, will perform outdoors. Food will be provided by Friends of the Gallery.
