FLATWOODS — ‘Star Wars’ event planned Saturday

FLATWOODS - An event titled “May the 4th Be With You” will be at noon Saturday at the Flatwoods branch of the Greenup‚ÄąCounty Public Library.

Sponsored by the Kentucky Star Wars Collectors Club, the event will include costume contests for children and adults, a trivia challenge for children and adults and a coloring contest for children. Refreshments will be served.

Members of the KSWCC will identify and appraise “Star Wars” collectibles.

In honor of the 30th anniversary, a showing of “The Return of the Jedi” is planned.

Story Lady to join First Friday

ASHLAND - The Story Lady from the Boyd County Public Library will pay a visit to First Friday festivities in downtown Ashland this summer.

She will be at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center, 1620 Winchester Ave., at 6 p.m. Admission to the museum will be free that evening, so families can stay and visit the displays and exhibits.

The program is for all ages and will include stories and a craft.

The Story Lady also will appear  June 7,  July 5 and Aug. 2.

Dance classes offered Mondays

HUNTINGTON - Ballroom dance lessons will be offered from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays at the Underwood Senior Center at 632 Ninth Ave.

Rumba will be taught during May and lessons are intended for social dancing.

Participants are urged to dress comfortably and wear shoes that slide easily. No partner is required; cost is $6 per class.

Church plans rummage sale

FLATWOODS - Flatwoods Freewill Baptist Church will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The church is at 2000 Cresent Drive.
