CANNONSBURG — Taste of literature will be Thursday

CANNONSBURG - Boyd County Public Library’s monthly “quick” book club next meets at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kyova branch.

“Short & Sweet” offers a quick taste of literature for busy people.

Participants will read and discuss two short stories and enjoy some sweets. The stories for this month are “Girls in Summer Dresses” by Irwin Shaw and “A Pair of Silk Stockings” by Kate Chopin.

If possible, those who attend should read the stories beforehand. Links can be found online, in the program section of thebookplace.org. Printed copies are available at the Kyova branch.

Cookout class up next at BCPL

CATLETTSBURG - At June’s adult craft program at Boyd County Public Library, participants will learn how to host a patriotic barbeque.

The program will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Catlettsburg branch, 2704 Louisa St.

Library staff will explain how to host, decorate and cook for the perfect patriotic barbeque. Those who attend can also make a banner and table decorations to take home. BCPL will provide all the supplies.

No registration is needed.

McKell library events scheduled

SOUTH SHORE - The McKell branch of the Greenup County Public Library will present a free showing of the movie “Adventures in Zambezia” at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Refreshments will be served.

The Dig Into Reading program will begin at the library June 18 and continue through July 16 with programs for ages 3 to 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. and for  ages 8 to 12 from 1 to 2 p.m.
