Grayson Gallery celebrates children’s arts camp

ASHLAND — The Grayson Gallery and Art Center will host a celebration for June's F!nal Fr!day event, which will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, showcasing the work in several different arts participants learned during Art and Culture Camp.

Teachers, instructors, presenters and volunteers who made 20 sessions of learning possible will be honored for their help.

The GGAC partnered with the Carter County Public Library and Carter County Cares as administration of the project and supplied volunteers. The project was funded primarily by a grant from the Brushy Fork Institute at Berea College in Kentucky, as well as local donors and contributions. More than 50 children from grades three through 12 attended various parts of the first art camp.

The annual Regional Favorites Art Show remains on display in the gallery through Saturday. The show will continue, along with a display of the works by those who attended camp. Music will be provided by Scott Miller of the Appalachian School of Music and the band Chigger Ridge, who also assisted during camp. Refreshments will be provided by Catering by Laura. The Cruisin’ Grayson Car show returns during F!nal Fr!day for its first show of the summer. Vehicles will be near Grayson City Park.

The gallery also will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
