Hospice seeks volunteers
ASHLAND - Community Hospice has scheduled a new volunteer orientation course.
The three-day session will be from 10 a.m. 4 p.m. March 11 through 13 at the Community Hospice at 1480 Carter Ave.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties, especially those interested in providing short in-home caregiver breaks, emotional support and visitation, nursing home visits, companionship and reading. Volunteers determine when and how often they are available to assist — a few hours a week or just occasionally. All volunteers must complete the required training to be certified.

Hospice spring potluck slated
HUNTINGTON - Hospice of Huntington will offer “Flinging into Spring,” a potluck dinner and social time, at 6 p.m. March 10 at the downtown office.
Pizza and beverages will be provided. Games will be offered.

Bracelet-making class planned
CATLETTSBURG - A class teaching participants how to make a bracelet out of a potato will be offered at 10 a.m. March 11 at the Boyd County Extension office, 2420 Center St.
The cost is $5 per person.

Seuss event will be Saturday
ASHLAND - The Boyd County Public Library branches will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss at 2 p.m. Saturday with a variety of activities.
Children and adults are invited to dress as their favorite Seuss characters.
The National Education Association has marked the birthday of this pioneer of children’s literature each year since 1998 with Read Across America Day.

FIVCO Family Fun Festival set
ASHLAND - The FIVCO Family Fun Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the transportation building on 15th Street and Greenup Avenue.
The event will include arts, crafts, baked goods and various vendors. OLBH Mobile mammograms will be offered.
An appearance by singer/songwriter Jesse Cline will be at noon. Genuine Remedy will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Heroes for Higher will be there from 2 to 3 p.m.
Adult admission is $2; children and students will be admitted free.
