Final Friday features Regional Favorites

GRAYSON — The Grayson Gallery and Art Center will present the fourth annual Regional Favorites Art Show with an opening reception 6 p.m. during the monthly F!nal Fr!days Art Walk on Friday.

The first Regional Favorites exhibit was show in May 2011 and has grown each year. Artists who have exceptional talent as well as the desire to exhibit their work in a local venue and support the efforts of the Grayson Gallery through their advocacy and participation were invited to display their work.

Last weekend’s Memory Days presented an opportunity for a sneak preview of the show; more than 200 attended.

The exhibit includes a variety of media — drawing, acrylic, egg tempera, oil, watercolor, pastels, mixed media, mosaics, assemblage, ceramics, 3-D sculpture in cast bronze, welded steel, paper and unique gourd construction, photography, textiles/fiber art and others. More than 30 artists have 90-plus pieces on display, making it the largest number of works shown in the Grayson Gallery. Most of the art is for sale with prices ranging from as little as $50 to several thousand dollars and many pieces sold during the Memory Days weekend from buyers near and far.

The reception, which will run until 9 p.m., also includes music by the Larry Whitt Band and their acoustic mix of the blues and popular tunes to kick off summer programming in the arts.  Refreshments will be served.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
