Jenny Wiley Theatre names new executive director

PRESTONSBURG — Holly Provance Doggett will join Jenny Wiley Theatre as executive director starting June 1.

Doggett is from Cedar Park, Texas, where she has been the executive director of the Austin Steam Train Association for seven years. She has worked for the American Cancer Society and the American Red Cross.

Doggett has been involved in theater for many years, starting when her daughter discovered theater as a child. She has served on the board of the Sam Bass Community Theatre and has volunteered for other local theaters in the box office, helping with marketing and serving as a stage manager and director. Doggett also has written and directed a short play, “Four Little Words,” which premiered at FronteraFest in Austin in 2013.

Her daughter, Alexa, graduated from Carolina Coastal University with a bachelor of fine arts in musical theater.  Doggett is a graduate of Texas A & M University with a degree in psychology.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join Jenny Wiley Theatre at this time.  The incredible history of the amphitheatre and its place in the community is amazing,” she said. “I look forward to helping JWT expand that legacy with year round theatre and educational programs in the new facility.  The possibilities are so exciting.”

Board President Miriam Silman said Doggett has the skill set Jenny Wiley needs as it expands, saying, “Holly will help Jenny Wiley Theatre become a vital, vibrant partner in the community.  She is creative and energetic, and her experience in the nonprofit world is exactly what we need at this pivotal point in our development.”

Jenny Wiley Theatre opens the 2014 50th anniversary season on May 29 with the opening production in the new theater in downtown Pikeville.

An open house will be at 6:30 p.m. today.
