Old Central City Days this weekend

HUNTINGTON — Huntington’s 22nd annual Old Central City Days will be Friday through Sunday with a lineup of family activities.

‰Antique fair — Vendors will set up behind the Farmers’ Market. The fair will be open Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.

‰Civil War re-enactors will set up camp behind the Gazebo Saturday from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.

‰The Gate City Gunslingers will stage mock shootouts on Saturday at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. in the 700 block of 14th Street West between Madison and Jefferson avenues.

‰“The Backyard Dixie Stompers” will play in front of the Farmers’ Market at noon Friday and from 11 a.m. to noon and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

‰The Word & Song Cafe will return to the Gazebo from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p .m. Sunday. Manchester House will again serve tea and sweets on the gazebo. Seating is limited. Admission is $5 or five cans of food. Proceeds and food will be donated to the Huntington City Mission. Authors and local celebrities will serve. Featured authors Kirk Judd, Llewellyn and John McKernan, Colleen Anderson and Carter Taylor Seaton will read from their own works and local celebrities will read from their favorite works. Local and regional authors also will sell and sign their books on the gazebo lawn each day.

‰“Freight Train” plays on the gazebo stage from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Other activities include a chess tournament, a guest artist who will sketch free portraits, and a photo booth. All events will be in Central City in West Huntington.
