Walk for Animals to benefit shelter

ASHLAND — The Lawrence County Humane Society Animal Shelter will have its seventh annual Walk for the Animals 2014 Saturday beginning at Louisa Main Street Park.

Prefestivities and registration will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies will follow. The 1.5-mile walk will end at 10:45 a.m. with awards from 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Postfestivities and a pet fair will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants may walk with their dogs, but must show proof of rabies vaccination and keep the dog on a  leash at all times.

Proceeds will go to the shelter, which is in need of a new roof, among other things, Sandy Stark, Walk for the Animals chairwoman, said.
