AARF spay-getti dinner Saturday

ASHLAND — The Ashland Animal Rescue Fund’s annual Spay-getti Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Park Place.

Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, bread, beverage and dessert. Tickets, which may be purchased at the door, are $10.

During the event, there will be a silent auction for baskets. Themes for baskets include Cincinnati Reds with two tickets; Thirty One, Scensy, children’s art, Aveda hair products, Kentucky Derby, gardening and grilling. AARF volunteer Cathy Queen said there will be about 20 baskets to bid on. AARF items also will be for sale.

AARF has had spay-getti dinners for about five years, raising at least $3,000 per event, Queen said.

Other fundraisers AARF has planned are:

‰May 2, 6:30 p.m. — Westminster on Winchester pet show during the First Friday art walk, corner of 15th Street and Winchester Avenue. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $10; each additional category will be $5 each.

‰May 3 and 4 — National Pet Adoption Weekend. AARF will have cats and dogs for adoption at PetSmart from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and noon to 4 p.m. May 4. AARF also will accept donations of cash, as well as dog, cat, puppy and kitten chow and other animal-care supplies.

‰May 30 — Acoustical bluegrass concert featuring a Nashville-based group, Ashland Elks Lodge.

AARF is a nonprofit aiming to save last-chance animals.
