Stuart book to be reissued

ASHLAND - The Jesse Stuart Foundation is preparing the “Album of Destiny,” originally published in 1944 and containing sonnets that follow the members of a mountain community through their lives.

“Three years ago, we realized that many of Stuart’s most important books of poetry were still not in print,” Gifford, CEO and senior editor of the foundation, said.  “So in 2011 we reissued ‘Man With A Bull-tongue Plow’ followed by ‘Songs of a Mountain Plowman’ in 2012.  This year, we will complete this set of books with ‘Album of Destiny.’”

Individuals can assist with the reprint project by making donations to the foundation; a minimum $50 donation will reserve a copy of the book for the donor and send one to the school or library of his or her choice. Donations will be accepted until Aug. 15.  The targeted release date for the reprinted book is October and it will retail for $30.

For more information, call the foundation at (606) 326-1667.
