GREENUP — Dance lessons scheduled

GREENUP - The Greenup Dance Club will offer ballroom waltz classes with Gayle Riggs from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The cost is $3 a person; dress code is casual with shoes that allow feet to slide.  A partner isn’t required.

The club is at the Greenup Senior Center at U.S. 23 and Ashland Road.

Grief support group offered

SOUTH POINT - Registrations are being accepted for a new grief support group called Coping with Grief at River’s Bend Health Care at 335 Twp. Road 1026.

The group provides support and information about the grief process for those who have lost a loved one as well as those struggling with other types of losses, such as memory loss and loss of independence because of aging and illness.

The group will be facilitated by the Rev. Dennis R. Tate of Community Hospice.

Free meetings will take place at River’s Bend at 2 p.m. Fridays, beginning this week and continuing through April 13.

Bridal expo planned March 3

GALLIPOLIS - The 2012 Ariel Bridal Fair will be from noon to 4 p.m. March 3 at the Ariel-Dater Theater.

Guests will receive a 2012 Ariel Wedding Planning Guide that includes a full-color magazine and guests are eligible to enter the grand prize drawing by visiting each exhibitor’s booth. The grand prize drawing is the Ariel Wedding Rental Package valued at $1,000.

Meals on Wheels seeks drivers

WILLARD - Grayson Meal on Wheels is seeking drivers for its delivery program.

Drivers must be able to spare an hour to two hours any weekday and have a car.

Hospice seeks volunteers

IRONTON - Community Hospice will offer Volunteer Orientation from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the office at 2122 S. Ninth St.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties, including in-home respite care, caregiver time out, emotional support and visitation, nursing home visits, companionship and reading, running errands, delivery drivers, office clerical work, and handyman services. 

Volunteers also are needed for Camp Nabe, the children’s bereavement camp offered June 18 through 21.  Volunteers determine when and how often they are available to assist and must complete the required orientation to be certified.

Job training help available

ASHLAND - Southwestern Community Action Council provides help to those 55 and older who are seeking to re-enter the work force.

The council will help individuals secure training and will assist in making the transition into the right job.
