ASHLAND — One-act plays sought by PAC

ASHLAND - The Paramount Arts Center will have a contest for playwrights.

The competition is for ages 18 and older. Plays submitted must be an unpublished and unproduced one-act play with a running time of 60 minutes or less and can be on any subject, but not musicals.

A maximum of six to eight characters is recommended.

Other guidelines:

‰The play must be an original work (cannot be based on a work of literature, movie or television show).

‰The plays will be reviewed by a three-judge panel, which may offer written critiques.

‰All plays for submission must be postmarked by May 31.

‰The winner will be announced July 1.

‰The winning playwright will receive a $500 prize and a public reading.

‰Winning play may be considered for a full-staged production at the Paramount.

There is a $15 fee per manuscript submitted. Make checks payable to the PAC.
