Youth Olympics set at libraries
ASHLAND - The Boyd County Public Library will host its own version of the Winter Olympics at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The BCPL Youth Olympic Games will be offered simultaneously at the main and Kyova branches. The main branch is at 1740 Central Ave. in Ashland and the Kyova Branch is in the Kyova Mall, across from Elder-Beerman.
The program, for ages 5 through 12, doesn’t include the more traditional winter sports, like skiing, skating and bobsledding, but offers skill games such as “dizzy discus throw” or the “Olympic ring toss.”

Spaghetti dinner slated Saturday
IRONTON - The Ohio Furnace Enterprise Baptist Church youth group will have its annual Praise and Raise Spaghetti Dinner Saturday at the church at 3132 Haverhill-Ohio Furnace Road.
Delivery is available and orders will be taken from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All-you-can-eat, eat-in dinners will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. Live music will be provided by Spoken For at 6:30 p.m.
Cost is $6 for spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert.

Library to show ‘Lone Ranger’
CATLETTSBURG - The Boyd County Public Library will show “The Lone Ranger” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Catlettsburg branch at 2704 Louisa St.

‘Go Red’ events announced
PORTSMOUTH - Southern Ohio Medical Center will host several events on February to promote good heart health and is selling “Go Red” T-shirts for the community to wear Friday.
There also is a month-long walking competition called “Pound the Pavement,” a Zumbathon Charity Event and special “Make a Date with Your Heart” screenings.
Go Red T-shirts are $12; proceeds benefit the SOMC Heart and Vascular Fund, which assists local heart and vascular patients and their families with various needs.
The Go Red Zumbathon will be from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at the SOMC LIFE Center. There will be “Make a Date with Your Heart” screenings from 9 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Friends Center. Pound the Pavement will continue through the month.
