A brush fire on New Haven Court in Flatwoods damaged a home and three other buildings on Monday afternoon.
Flatwoods Fire Chief Richard Blevins said the fire started as a brush fire but eventually spread to three outbuildings on two properties in the 2900 block of New Haven Court at its intersection with Conlon Street. Blevins said the siding on one home was damaged along with a greenhouse at one piece of property. A garage and another outbuilding on a second homeowner’s property were also damaged, he said.
The fire started around 2:30 p.m. and was completely out by 4:30 p.m., according to officials.
At press time it was unclear whether the brush fire was lit intentionally or started on accident. Blevins said fire officials were continuing to investigate and he was not at liberty to say whether criminal charges were being considered.
Firefighters from the Flatwoods, Russell and Wurtland fire departments were on scene as well as two medical response units.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
