Words of Thanks — 10/03/09
What makes a good tournament? It’s the people, the talented players, wonderful sponsors, great parents and those interested in tennis.
Andy’s barbecue, the interesting trophies and even the bananas and lemonade helped make the ninth Bennett Lake Memorial Tennis Tournament a hit!
Thanks go to McKenzie, Woolery and Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lucke, Dr. and Mrs Michael Goodwin, Mary Jo Burton, Lori Moore, Jay Freeman, Shaffer and Shaffer Family Dentistry, Scott Hester lnsurance, Community Trust Bank, Mr. and Mrs. David Mussetter, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fannin, Dr. Michael Couchot, Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Spradlin, Kentucky Farmers Bank, Dr. and Mrs. Roger Klein, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fout, Dr. Ralph and Rita Touma, Judge and Mrs Lyon, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lake, Ann Ward and Vic Neyer, plus Ashland Sporting Goods, Kroger’s, Wal-Mart, Chick-Fil- A, Andy's Catering and, best of all, tournament director Jerry Groce.

President Calvin Coolidge said, “No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor is given by what he gave.”
This quote brings to mind Boyd County Jailer Joe Burchett. I honor him for his trusty work program that has resulted in community beautification, specifically at Oakview Elementary.
On behalf of Oakview’s students and staff, I thank Jailer Burchett for making it possible to have our school grounds cut and trimmed over the past two summers through his trusty work program.
I have been at school during some of the times Jailer Burchett and his crew have been at Oakview.
I was impressed that Jailer Burchett took the time to explain that no matter what job you do, you should take pride in your work. I overheard him saying, “You want to leave a job with the ‘wow’ factor.”
Wow, Jailer Burchett and his trusties have done a fantastic job!
Nancy McHenry, principal, Oakview Elementary
My mother was a resident of Kingsbrook Lifecare Center for five years. She recently passed away at the facility and the special care and compassion my mother received during her stay there surpassed my highest expectations.
We are very fortunate to have this award-winning nursing and rehab center in our community. However, a large and beautiful facility like Kingsbrook is defined by its personnel. My sincere thanks to those who helped make the final years of my mother’s life so happy and meaningful.
