FOUNDATION

The Jesse Stuart Foundation preserves the human and literary legacy of Stuart and other Kentucky and Appalachian writers.

‰The JSF Regional Readers book group meets the last Tuesday of the month at 5:45 pm. July’s selection is “Blood Feud – The Hatfields & McCoys: The Epic Story of Murder and Vengeance” by Lisa Alther. The book group is open to all and new members are always welcome. The complete reading list for 2012 is available at the JSF website: jsfbooks.com.

‰The Jesse Stuart Room features Stuart memorabilia, rare books and collectible items.

‰The Leming Art Gallery features works by area artists and photographs by William “Pictureman” Mullins.

‰The bookstore offers a wide variety of new, used and collectible books, fine art prints, pottery, gift items and Ruth Hunt’s Blue Monday candy bars, Derbies, assorted chocolates, bourbon balls and mint julep bourbon balls. Also featured are books in the “Images of America” series of local pictorial histories.

‰The Young Readers’ Corner features Jesse Stuart’s junior books as well as books for children by Billy C. Clark and other regional authors; books in the “Childhood of Famous Americans” series; and resources for teachers of reading.

Potters’ Loft

New classes starting Monday and Tuesday: A eight-week, wheel-thrown pottery class will be either Mondays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. or Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the upstairs of the L Style Salon’s Potter's Loft, 1516 Winchester Ave., Ashland. PAINTED COW GALLERY

‰Monday through July 26 — Art summer camp for kids. From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for ages 6 to 12; and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. for ages 13 to 18. $60 per child or $100 for two from the same family. Scholarship available.

The gallery will celebrate spring and summer with new and exciting original artwork from local artists in a wide variety of styles, colors and sizes, in time for gift giving Father’s Day and graduations.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Each Tuesday, the gallery turns into a studio home for an assortment of artists to work on their artwork. Watercolor instructions are also offered by appointment each Tuesday.
