ASHLAND — THE FRENCH ART COLONY

Exhibits

‰Friday through Aug. 26 — "Scenes of Our River Communities"  Community Photography Exhibit.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Shows

‰Aug. 10 — 2nd Friday featuring Joey D and the Dub-V’s.

‰Aug. 11, 7 p.m. and Aug. 12, 3 p.m. — “Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” at The University of Rio Grande Fine Arts Center. Tickets $10.

‰Aug. 17, 7 p.m. and Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the FAC Patio  — “Fairy Tale Courtroom.”

‰Sept. 29 and 30, on the FAC Patio — “The Ransom of Red Chief.”

Gates open at 5:30 p.m., music begins at 6 p.m.  Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students (K-College).  Food from local vendors, beer and wine will be available.  Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs.

Classes

Summer Arts Adventure Camps: Each day is filled with art, games, team activities, creative fun, guests artists and more!  Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Open to youth, ages 8 to 14. First week of attendance $80, additional weeks $75. 

‰Aug. 13 through 17: “Creative Castle” dragons, damsels and art.

‰Little Artists Day Camps: Open to youth, ages 5 to 7. Cost is $40 per camp. Tuesday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the following dates:

‰Tuesday through Aug. 9 — “Once Upon A Time.”

GRAYSON GALLERY and ART CENTER

‰Final Friday Art and Antiques Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. on the last Friday of the month.

Through Summer — Partnering with the Cruisin’ Grayson Car Show and featuring collectible, vintage and various show cars nearby.

Exhibits

‰Aug. 31 — Opening Reception for exhibit which will feature a patriotic-themed show to coordinate with the regional Veterans and Vietnam War Memorial traveling exhibit that is coming to Grayson over the Labor Day weekend.

The gallery is available for special showings by appointment.

The gallery is in the former Grayson Fire Station at Carole Malone Boulevard and Third Street and  is seeking volunteers for all programs and operations (artists and advocates)..
