Wheel-thrown pottery classes — Taught by master potter Bill Meadows. Eight-week sessions are ongoing on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Beginning and advanced students welcome.
Registrations has begun for summer classes. The Monday night eight week session will begin July 10. The Tuesday night eight-week session will begin July 11. The classes will run through August.
Classes are in the Potter’s Loft on the second floor gallery. The studio is equipped with eight wheels and one for demonstrating.
Anyone interested in visiting the Potter’s Loft to discuss the class may do so any Monday or Tuesday evening between 6:30 and 9:30.

The KENTUCKY FOLK ART CENTER
“Slow Time: The Works of Charley and Noah Kinney,” will be on display until Sept. 24 at the center.
The exhibition will present more than 80 works, including paintings, drawings and wood sculptures. It will be accompanied by a 40-page, full color catalog, which includes essays by Lee Kogan, director of the Folk Art Institute, the educational arm of the American Folk Art Museum, and John Harrod, one of the nation’s preeminent authorities on traditional Kentucky music. A brief DVD, which highlights the brothers’ music and offers context for the exhibition, also will be produced.
The exhibition will tour through 2008, and some touring slots are available.
The Kentucky Folk Art Center is a cultural, educational and economic development service of Morehead State University. The Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

William Salyers and Sally (Jean) Huffman-Salyers will be the featured artists for June 2006 at the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) in Prestonsburg. This will be their second show at the MAC. The dynamic husband and wife artist duo reside in Blaine.

This month’s theme is “Ghostly Dreams” and is dedicated to musical trailblazers such as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and all those individuals whose stars continue to shine.
June 12 to June 16, 9 a.m. to noon — Youth Education Summer Camps. This week is geared for students in grades kindergarten to 4th-grade. This is a weeklong half-day program designed to fit the needs of all school-aged children. The camp will provide intensive, interactive, hands-on instruction in three disciplines of the arts.
Students will participate in three areas of Arts: Drama, Dance, and Visual Arts. Each of the classes will emphasize the appropriate terminology and vocabulary of that art discipline. After each 55 minute session, students will rotate to the next discipline. Instructors are Jon Joy (Drama), Traci Fisher (Dance), and Nancy Adams (Visual Art).
June 23, 8 p.m. — The Kentucky Music Trail Series opens with Wynonna!

Don has decided to bring the curtain down on his massively successful international touring career, which has spanned more than 30 years, to spend more time at home on his ranch in Tennessee. This will be his Farewell Tour and your last opportunity to see him in this area.
