My home tests
I made my own detergent and absolutely love it, so I decided to try some other things I’ve seen on YouTube. It’s spring cleaning time, and I’m in full swing of cleaning two homes, right down to curtains. I remember when my mother told me she used to make her own spray starch years ago for a certain kind of Priscilla curtain set in her living room. When I looked on YouTube at “Pinky Love’s” site, I found the perfect recipe.
Homemade Spray Starch
Boil 3 3⁄4 cup water
In a bowl, mix 1⁄4 cup cold water and 1 tablespoon corn starch until it looks like milk.
Pour into boiling water and stir 1 minute. Liquid should be clear. Stir constantly.
Add two drops of your favorite essential oil; I like baby scent. Let it cool. Use a measuring cup to pour into a spray bottle. Shake before using.

I have a shoutout for Foodland in Catlettsburg for Chester’s Chicken. It’s on my high-recommend list for those days when you can’t cook. Look for it in the deli at the front of the store. We tried it with their potato salad and it saved a very busy day.
Couponing class starts Thursday at Ashland Community and Technical College. Call for reservations.
