While there are many weaknesses in my life, one of them is ice cream.
Because I’m an emotional eater, I don’t binge on ice cream every week. I might be obsessed with it for a few days, level off for a while and then be obsessed with something else for a few days. Maybe rice pudding or Skiddles or chips and salsa.
Coming back to ice cream every time is easy. It’s sweet and creamy and buttery and, if I have anything to say about it, usually contains some nuts and chocolate.
Readers who believe life is too short to waste time on bad ice cream might find a new blog helpful.
It’s theicecreamscoop.net.
Every week, the keepers of this blog — there are six — each review three different ice cream products. It might be a carton of something from the grocery store or a flavor at a chain restaurant or a creation from an ice cream shop.
The site is just getting started so there’s not much there yet, but it seems everything is reviewable. The first commentary I saw was about Edy’s Cookie Dough. Not a new flavor, not a new brand, but I’ve never tried it, so it’s new to me.
If you trust reviews in general, this site could save you a lot of calories. Why work your way through a pint of premium that, upon reflection, wasn’t that good, even though depression urged you on to the bottom of the carton? If you read the review first, you might not even buy it. Gorging problem solved.
On the more dangerous side, we might be alerted to some new, delicious things by checking out this blog as it progresses.
This blog might be of more interest to women than men.
Women are notorious for devouring a pint of ice cream in one sitting. I don’t think we should be embarrassed about doing that now and then. Men do the same thing with different foods. Next time you’re at a sports bar, notice the number of wings a guy can eat or how many beers he can put away. What’s a pint of ice cream compared to the damage that can do?
