ASHLAND — Gary and Nancy Edmond will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Dec. 1.

They were married Dec. 1, 1963, in the First Church of God in Ashland by the Rev. Jack Bugg.

Mr. Edmund is the son of the late William H. and Ruth Menshouse Edmond. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from AK Steel in 2002 after 36 years of service. He loves to hunt, fish, garden and is a jack of all trades, building and remodeling the home they’ve lived in for 46 years.

Mrs. Edmond is the daughter of the late Claude “Bud” and Jessie Louise Harris Fullerton. She was both a stay-at-home mom and working mom, having worked several jobs, including the bookkeeping department of Community Trust Bank. She likes reading, crafts, decorating and travel.

They have been faithful caregivers to both sets of parents and Mrs. Edmond’s brother.

The Edmonds are the proud parents of three wonderful children and eight grandchildren: daughter Cathy and Joe Hanson of Raceland and their children Sarah, Emily and Mussie; son David and Mindy of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and their children Ryan, Jesse and Megan; son, Richard and Kelley of Oceanside, Calif., and their children Hunter and Haley.

They worship at Russell First Baptist Church.

The couple plan to celebrate by traveling across country, which has been their lifelong dream.
