Raftery

Ralph L. and Doris E. Raftery of Ashland marked their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Ashland Plaza Hotel Friday.

They were married Dec. 31, 1947, in Freedom, Pa., by the Rev. Charles H. Ream.

Mr. Raftery, a son of the late Michael and Charlotte Raftery, is retired with 44 years of service with Ashland Inc. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army air forces and is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ashland.

Mrs. Raftery volunteers at King’s Daughters Medical Center and is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ashland. She is a daughter of the late Evelyn and Hester C. Powell Jr.

The Raftery’s children are Michael Raftery and Ralph A. Raftery, both of Lexington; Susan Pierce and Amy Riley, both of Las Vegas; and Phyllis Musser of Slidell, La. They have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
