Exhibit presents works by those touched by cancer

Huntington — A collection of art created by cancer sufferers, their families and health-care providers is on display at the Huntington Museum of Art.

The 2008 Lilly Oncology on Canvas World Tour will be on display at the Huntington Museum of Art through Oct. 19. This international exhibit and art competition includes inspirational pieces of artwork and stunning photographs that honor the cancer journey of more than 70 artists.

Included in the Huntington exhibition is a photograph taken by Oscar Ballester, MD, a medical oncologist at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, which presents with exhibit with the HMA.

The exhibition and art competition was created in 2004 by Eli Lilly and Company and in 2006, more than 2,000 pieces of art from 43 countries were submitted by people diagnosed with cancer, their friends, family or health care providers.

During the tour’s stop in Huntington, 75 pieces will be on display, including 25 winners from the 2006 competition.
