No wonder AARP is losing members

I have been puzzled as to why AARP would be so supportive of President Obama's effort to take over our health care system and pay for it by reducing Medcare spending — not a good idea since Medicare is about to go broke. This reduction in Medicare spending will affect the very age bracket of individuals AARP purports to represent.

Well, I just heard this week on the news that AARP received $18 million from the Obama’s stimulus bill. That explains it.

I cancelled my membership to AARP several years ago when I saw Art Linkletter explain its liberal agenda. Reportedly, because of its support of the Democratic health care bill, the AARP has lost many of its members — and justifiably so.

Insurance costs are way too high

I am writing concerning health care. I am a union electrician and have Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance. However, cunstruction and maintenance has been so slow that I have only worked about six weeks this year.

It’s not like I am abusing welfare or any other social program. I’m actually trying to provide for my wife and son. I also have a daughter on the way. My insurance is almost gone.

I believe more banking hours would help greatly but a public option would be even better. I understand my COBRA payments are approximately $650 and I recieve $424 a week on unemployment. Even if I am working, my premiums are way too high at $890 per month.

In theory, Republicans would say this is destroying my wealth. Correct? I think the health care bill is necessary, and why is extending unemployment so bad?

These are just a few thoughts and questions I have for Kentuxcky’s two senators.
