Words of Thanks — 10/31/09

On October 22, Community Hospice held an anniversary celebration dinner in recognition of 30 years of service to our community. More than 320 guests joined us in this celebration. We thank everyone who helped make the event possible.

In addition, we thank the many businesses throughout our area that donated items for our silent auction. It’s with much support and the work of a great committee that this event was a success.

The eighth annual Large Ministries Bible drive was Friday Oct. 16. What blessings were poured out that afternoon.

We received and processed 743 bibles (8,923 to date), 88 boxes of Sunday school materials, and 83 boxes of books, tapes and other items. This year’s increase was nearly 20 percent!

We thank all who joined hands with us in providing materials, advertising, and even rolling up their sleeves and worked alongside us so that these items can be distributed to those in need.

Total expenses for the Bible drive were $726.35, of which $480 was for storage of materials that we collect throughout the year.

The Word of God is alive and going to go into all the world; we’re simply the conduits in which its travels. Our prayer is that God rewards the churches, businesses, and families for their obedience to this amazing event in abundance this year.

The family of Steven Garrett Holbrook thanks all our friends, neighbors, family and loved ones for their kind expressions of love and sympathy during Steven’s passing.

We greatly appreciate the prayers, visits and words of comfort, food and the household chores that were taken care of. We have been surrounded by so much love and comfort. We couldn’t have made it through these days without it. There are too many people to list by name, but they know who they are.

A special thank you goes to the Rev. Tom Keelin for his comforting message and beautiful eulogy, the Neal family for their kindness in meeting every need, and Steve’s cousin, David Johnson, who is like a brother, for his loving words of comfort at the funeral.

We also thank the lady, whose name we don’t know, who left the grief therapy books.
