As it has for many years, Summer Motion allowed River Cities Harvest to collect food and cash donations from those attending the July 4th concerts on the riverfront. Excluding one large donation, we collected $446.53 in cash and about 70 pounds in canned goods. The food was donated to the Community Kitchen. The money will be used to purchase food for local agencies that feed the hungry.
This project would not be possible without the help of Ashland Breakfast Kiwanis Club, whose members have stood on the riverfront for many years (often in the rain) collecting money for River Cities Harvest. Helping this year were Kiwanians Jerry Henderson, Bill Burch, Diane Carper, Lynn Hutchinson, Paul Thomas, and two members of the Verity Middle School Builders Club.
We thank Summer Motion and President Chuck Charles, the Kiwanis Club and the many donors for helping feed the hungry.
