Words of Thanks — 05/03/08

On behalf of the March of Dimes, I thank the people of Ashland, Ironton and the Tri-State who joined together to support the health of all babies.
On Saturday, April 26, more than 400 Ashland area residents met in Central Park to help raise $65,000 through the March for Babies that was formerly known as WalkAmerica.
Premature birth touches a half-million babies and their families each year, including 8,026 in Kentucky. More than 120,000 babies are born annually with serious birth defects. Healthy babies also need champions to ensure they have access to newborn screening and preventive health. The March of Dimes is there for all babies.
We offer special thanks to our major sponsors: King’s Daughters Medical Center, Town Square Bank and Community Trust Bank. We thank all who helped to make our day a success, including the young men from the Ashland Group Home.

I take this opportunity to thank a nice gentleman and his daughter for stopping when they saw my mother fall in an alley in Catlettsburg on April 19.
We were told by the Catlettsburg Police Department that the young lady called 911 while her father went to find the police. I’m sorry we didn’t get the names of this father and daughter, but we want them to know how appreciative we are of what they did.
Things may have turned out much differently if they had not been in the right place and the right time.
The Rev. Frank D. Hulett, Son of Ollie Flint, Catlettsburg

My husband and I had our 53rd anniversary April 29. My husband had to have outpatient surgery so we spent it in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
We thank all the staff for their kindness, especially the nurses who gave us the card, cake and sang to us. We will never forget it. Love you all.
