Words of Thanks — 03/01/08
The Highlands Museum & Discovery Center thanks all who contributed to the success of our first annual Heart of the Highlands Casino Cruise.
Thanks go to Bo Picklesimer, Beverly Baldridge and staff of the Bellefonte Country Club for accommodating us when river conditions forced us to move our “cruise” to dry land; Mark Cole and Time Warner Cable for sponsorship and for getting the word out about last minute changes; Paula Hobbs for the decorating; her assistant, Debby Leake; museum board members and staff; guests who attended and over 40 generous sponsors and donors, who we’d name individually if space permitted. Visit the museum website for a complete listing of sponsors and donors.
Finally, thank to Jeff Carter and Shades of Blue and Ken Bannon and MPE Entertainment for a great job.
Curise proceeds benefit programs and exhibits at the Highlands Museum.
We’re grateful for such strong community support.

My first day at the Vitality Center at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital was Feb. 28, 2007. It had been 2 months since my heart surgery. I was able to drive and was ready for cardiac rehabilitation.
The reality is I was in training for my new life.
A health center or gym is not somewhere you would have thought to look for me in previous years.
It has all changed now thanks to the care, support and encouragement of the following health care professionals: Debbie Martin, RN BSN, Deana Allen, RN, Gretchen Newbeck-Hill, exercise physiologist, Jennifer Bayes, exercise physiologist, and Mandy Webb, exercise physiologist.
I completed cardiac rehabilitation in 2007. It is with a new attitude that I rise early several days a week to workout as a member at the Vitality Center now.
Many thanks from my family and me.
Lowell Barker, Ashland
The Lawrence County, Ohio, Educational Service Center thanks the sponsors and judges of the 2008 Lawrence County Middle School Science Fair. Contributors from the business and professional community graciously provided funding which secured student ribbons, trophies, medals and awards.
With the help of our contributors, we were able to encourage our young scientists by providing small incentives for their efforts. We also offer appreciation to the judges who gave their time to interact with our students.
Several of our students have advanced to District Science Day at Shawnee State University, and some on to State Science Day in Columbus. This year 130 students in grades five through eight participated in this annual event.
Sponsors for the 2008 science fair were Dow Chemical Foundation through the Hanging Rock facility; Bentley Rxpress Pharmacy; Hecla Water Association; Dr. Gregory D. Prater, DDS; Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District; Dr. John D. Davis, DDS.
Theresa Adkins, Curriculum supervisor, Lawrence County Educational Service Center, Ironton, Ohio
