Words of Thanks — 02/02/08

On Jan. 24, our son had an accident on Riverhill Road (road to Wal-Mart). He hit a patch of ice and slammed into the hill.

We thank the motorists who offered help. According to the Ashland Police Department, the 911 center received numerous calls reporting the accident.

Although the temperature was only in the teens, the manager of Chick-Fil-A, Shane Miles, walked several hundred yards and stood in the cold while offering Bryan help. Mr. Miles called the police and offered to call EMS. He also suggested Bryan go inside his warm restaurant to await the police.

The responding police officer, R. Hogsten, was considerate and courteous to Bryan and to my husband and me once we arrived. He was professional and reassuring.

We thank everyone involved. The public should know just how competent Patrolman Hogsten was and what a caring and compassionate man Mr. Miles is.

Gary, Vicki and Bryan Castle, Ashland

A sincere thank you goes to Nancy Smith, Glenna and the docents at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center for the use of the museum for our Christmas violin recital.

A special thanks is extended to Christina Daniels of the American Dance Conservatory and her ballerinas, our special guests. Thank you to Dr. Arnold Adams, president, Southland Bible Institute for his invocation and, most of all, to the violinists. who practiced, practiced and practiced to make the event so special for their parents and guests. We appreciated it very much!

Kathleen Chamis, Violin teacher, Ashland
